Elex
Elex Scheels is a dynamic yoga teacher who incorporates deep spirituality into her creative flows. Her sense of humor balances the challenging asana practice, supporting students to move out the internal energy that does not serve (ego, judgment, resentment) so to make space for higher qualities (gratitude, peace and acceptance) to move in. Along with her strong faith in the Divine, she believes every soul has a defined purpose on this earth and is impassioned to help students learn and serve that purpose.
Her practice began under Bryan Kest Power Yoga™ in 1998 after losing her father to cancer. After moving to Albany in 2002, her practiced developed in to primarily ashtanga only. In 2008, Elex begin teaching at the Capital District’s first HOT Yoga Studio teaching a strong hot vinyasa flow. Her yogic education includes trainings/certifications from Baptiste Institute, Seane Corn Yoga and Gopi Kinnicutt’s Bhakti-Infused Teacher Training. She credits JAI as her formal yoga school as JAI is the safe, consistent school in her life offering authentic opportunities for growth, not only as a professional yoga teacher, but more importantly, as a student. JAI has offered Elex the opportunity to uncover her true, purest potential.
Elex lives happily in Voorheesville with her husband, Patrick; their triplets, Sydney, Michael & Cole and goddaughter Danielle. Her gratitude for these blessings is immense and grounds her deeply.
